HCISD Board OF TRUSTEES meeting
Hays CISD Board of Trustees will meet at 5:30 p.m. May 27 at Lehman High School.
Trustees are in the process of discussing the 2014-2015 school year budget. On the table are equity adjustments to all district employee salaries along with modest raises for teachers, nurses and librarians and 1.5 percent raises for all other staff.
Other district-wide budget proposals include hiring four new content coordinators ($260,000), a cosmetology teacher who would work at both Lehman and Hays High ($55,000), three new middle school counselors ($180,000), one new arrival center teacher ($55,000), a new Mariachi program teacher ($55,000) and a new special education job coach ($70,000).
Trustees have so far asked district administrators to remove or defer several budget proposal items, including SIM coaches at two middle schools, using LVNs to replace RNs at elementary campuses, a budget analyst, a safety/security officer and a telecomm support specialist, among other proposed positions.
Additional cost saving measures include removing one high school librarian, eliminating one maintenance position, eliminating subs for maintenance personnel, realigning the GT program and going from four to two lunch room monitors at elementary schools.
The board is expected to approve a final budget in August.
All Hays CISD budget documents are available on the district’s website at www.hayscisd.net.
