Lady Lobo basketball loses to Tivy

By Keff Ciardello.

The Lehman Lobos girls basketball team lost at home, 58-27, to the Tivy Antlers Tuesday night. It’s the second time they have been blown-out by Tivy, losing 65-39 earlier in the season.

The Antlers hit Lehman hard with a full court press in the first half, taking a 40-11 at halftime. The Lobos were able to break through the press and were only outscored by one point in the second half.

“(Tivy’s) transition game was too much for us,” said head coach Jamie Coy. “We gave up too many points in the first half. I mean, the second half, the score was 18-16, but the first half (Tivy) went on a ridiculous run.”

The Antlers went on a 21-0 scoring run that started in the first quarter and ended in the second after a couple of Leh-man free throws with six minutes left until the half. The Lobos connected on only one field goal in the first half, none in the second quarter. Nine of their 11 first half points came from the free throw line.

After combining for 16 points in the first three quarter, Leh-man scored 11 in the fourth and actually outscored Tivy by one in that quarter. The Lobos were led by junior Lauren Fowler with nine points.

The Lobos are in next to last place in district 27 of the 4A Region IV. They look to bounce back when they take on the Lockhart Lions this Friday, Jan. 31.
