Combat Chaos to help military widows

To raise awareness and funds for the American Widow Project, teams of four will go through a CrossFit obstacle course, created by CrossFit Kyle. Public relations students from Texas State University coordinated the event, in cooperation with the Veterans Alliance of Texas State (VATS). The obstacle course will include rigorous paces at five stations of fitness challenges. Each of the five stations honors a fallen soldier. The event takes place beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sewell Park in San Marcos. Prizes will be awarded the top three finishing teams. There will be honorees from all branches of the military and a remembrance tree at the after-celebration at Rooftop on the San Marcos Square, where participants can honor additional fallen soldiers. Need help navigating the Veteran Affairs system or help with filing a claim? Central Texas AMVETS Post 115 will host AMVETS Veterans Services Officer John Cook, who will offer free assistance to veterans. This will be Cook’s third visit to the Central Texas area.
