Plum Creek’s 13th Annual Front Porch Days
Front Porch Days is a family-friendly, weekend celebration from May 17-18 in Kyle’s community of Plum Creek. Hope & Love 4 Kids Fourth Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, Auction
May 17 at Historic Kyle City Hall in Kyle, Texas. All proceeds benefit the Hendricks Hope Scholarship Foundation. Supporters who attend can expect a three-course meal in a historic venue, served by the Hope & Love 4 Kids board of directors and volunteers. The event includes musical entertainment, opportunities for networking and social engagements and a well-supplied silent auction. Dinner is catered by Bailey’s Burgers. The menu includes a choice of salad, a main course of spaghetti and meatballs in homemade sauce with garlic bread and dessert. Tea, water and coffee will be served. Supporters can purchase tickets at the door the night of the event.
22nd annual Swing on the Square festival
Head down to the San Marcos square May 16-18 in historic downtown San Marcos to spend time with some of the great pioneers of Western Swing. The event will kick off with Cowboy Coffee Talk from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 16, at the Historic Hays County Courthouse on the Square. Guests are invited to hear from Western Swing legends like Jason Roberts of Asleep at the Wheel, members of the Texas Playboys and more. The daytime event will be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday and is free to the public. More than 15 bands will play on the courthouse square and inside some of the most popular venues downtown, including Sean Patrick’s, Louie’s Beer Garden, The Railyard, Root Cellar Bakery and Cheatham Street Warehouse. Activities throughout the day will include heritage activities, history exhibits and kids crafts. Food and art vendors will also be set up on the courthouse lawn. The Hall of Fame Show will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on the Square, and will include a street dance and dance contest. Bring your lawn chair for free admission to the show.
Mighty Texas Dog Walk
Participating pooches will enjoy the latest in dog food samples, advice from top veterinarians, games of canine skill and even a doggie psychic. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit Service Dogs, Inc. of Dripping Springs, celebrating its 25th anniversary of transforming shelter dogs into assistants for disabled individuals free of charge. Also includes the return of the Guinness World Record Holding Fur Ball.The walk takes place beginning at 9 a.m. May 17 at the Palmer Events Center in Austin.
