Buda senior citizens get moving

By Sandra Grizzle.

In honor of his military service, Jud Brodie was given a handmade lap quilt last Thursday at the Onion Creek Senior Center.  A label attached to the quilt read, “This quilt is presented to Judson (Jud) Maurice Brodie, LCDR USN Retired, in appreciation for your 30 years of Military service (1940 -1970) Donated by the Buda Onion Creek Senior Center and Thrivent Financial, on January 30th, 2014, in Buda, Texas.”  Brodie, a survivor of the USS Yorktown, will attend a reunion for WWII veterans later this year in North Carolina.

The Executive Director of National Volunteer Caregiving Network, Rhonda Anderson, will address the senior citizen transportation issue for the Buda area on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be at St. Elizabeth Church (mission hall) located at 725 Ranch Road 967 in Buda.

It’s a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss. You may begin the class at any point during the time frame.  For additional information, call 512-970-6130. Manchaca United Methodist is located at 1011 FM 1626.
