Market to open March 22

The Downtown Buda Farmers Market has announced Saturday, March 22, will be the opening day of the fourth season in downtown Buda. The market will open every Saturday, rain or shine, 9 a.m. until noon throughout the growing season at the same location on Main Street, across from Garcia’s Restaurant. Off the Cuff will provide opening day music.


Jennifer Denton, past Market Manager for the last three seasons, will be resigning and giving the reins to Sherry Highsmith, Bruce Banks and Jonas Jones. There is still time to sign up for the AARP Driving class to be held at the Onion Creek Senior Center in Buda on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Call the senior center at 512-295-3413 (leave message) to pre-register.

A representative from the Area Agency on Aging will present a program concerning Medicare health insurance Monday, Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. at Onion Creek Senior Center in Buda. Josephine Tee, the Benefits Counselor, will be at the center throughout the day to answer questions about Medicare. The senior center is located at 420 Barton’s Crossing.

GriefShare, a 13-week faith-based seminar and support group for people grieving the death of a loved one, will meet at Manchaca United Methodist Church beginning March 2, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.  There is a $15 charge for workbooks (scholarships available). It’s a place where you can be around people who understand how you feel and the pain of your loss.
