Eleanor Elaine Schmidt (1924-2014)

Eleanor Elaine Schmidt of Creedmoor, Texas was born on November 6, 1924, in Cameron, Texas to Emil John Pfarrdrescher and Alice (Fischer) Pfarrdrescher. She died on Friday, July 18, 2014, in Austin, Texas at the age of 89.

Besides her family, Eleanor’s love in life was cooking meals and baking sweets for anyone who would eat them, and everyone loved to eat her cooking — her pot roast with potatoes and carrots; enchiladas with rice; beans and cornbread; and homemade chicken and dumplings will never be matched. Eleanor was a homemaker and despite what she might tell you she loved working at Wilhite’s Bar-B-Q in Creedmoor for the last 15-20 years of her life. Creedmoor has lost a favorite daughter.

She is survived by her son Richard Schmidt and wife SueAnne of Mountain City, granddaughters Dana Schmidt of Dripping Springs, Danae Lancaster and husband Bradley of Driftwood and Dara Schmidt of College Station. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Ethan Lancaster and Camryn Lancaster of Driftwood, and a host of other family members and friends. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elroy (Joe) Schmidt, sisters Dorothy Frazier, Gladys (Jean) Von Quintus, and Jessie Nardecchia.

Visitation was held Monday, July 21, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, Kyle, TX, with funeral services held Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Harrell Funeral Home with Pastor William B. Knippa officiating. Burial followed at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Serving as pall bearers were Bobby Schmidt, Jimmy Schmidt, Sonny Schmidt, Shane Schmidt, Lee Schuenemann, Darrell Schuenemann, Robert Von Quintus and Robert Wilhite. Serving as honorary pall bearers were Bradley Lancaster, Ethan Lancaster, Freddie Morris, Jr. and Nathan Morris.
