Shop local, shop Buda

By Sandra Grizzle.

Here we are just a few weeks into the New Year and hopefully getting back to somewhat of a “normal” life. With Christmas things all put away and the kids back in school, we are ready for 2014.

Some of the changes we are seeing in our town are the closing of The Bridal Tapestry at 606 Main Street and also the Wild Flower Cakery at 316 Main. Always sad to see the businesses close their doors.  Again we need to remember how important it is to shop local and help the small business owners.

The Hays County 4-H and FFA Stock Show is coming up January 22-25. This year it will be held at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park Event Center located at 29401 Ranch Road 12, just north of 290 in Dripping Springs. Always a fun time for all ages so do plan to spend some time there and give our youth some support.

The Girl Scouts are gearing up for their annual cookie sale that will start this week.  Cookies will sell for $4 per box so help the scouts and buy a few.

Anniversary wishes go out to Mary Lou and Jim Kelley on Jan. 15.

Put your boots on and come on down to the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center Thursday night, Jan. 15 from 6-10 p.m. for a little country and western dancing.  Cost is $5 per person. The center is located at 420 Barton’s Crossing in Buda.

Just received word that the annual Buda High Reunion will be held this year on Saturday, April 12. Doors to the “old” high school will open at 9 a.m. so all you Buda Bulldogs be sure to mark your calendar and plan to attend.
