The Hays High School Band had a strong showing at the recent 2013 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) District Band auditions, with 28 students earning a District Band chair, 20 of those advancing to the next level, and 19 earning a Region Symphonic Band slot. Topping off the showing was Cole Smith earning a chair in the Region Wind Ensemble and getting the opportunity to audition January 11 for the TMEA All-State Band. The competition was held at Westlake High School with the Rebel Band students under the guidance of Director Anthony Leflet. The Region 18 Band Concert will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Bastrop Performing Arts Center.
