The Austin Community College (ACC) Hays Campus opened its doors to students on Jan. 13 for the first day of class. The campus located at 1200 Kohler’s Crossing in Kyle is offering several courses this spring, including accounting, biology, chemistry, history, government, Spanish, mathematics, writing and several others.
Ashley Lujan, 18, is a freshman education major and said she is attending ACC Hays because of the convenience and proximity to home. She and her family recently moved to Kyle from Laredo.
Yesenia Sylva, 31, is a freshman marketing and fashion merchandising major from Kyle. She said she received her General Education Diploma (GED) through an ACC program and has decided to pursue higher education.
Cesar Galvez, 18, is a freshman music education major from Kyle. He graduated from Hays High School and said he decided to attend ACC Hays because it’s close to home, affordable and is an education partner with Texas State University – the school he plans to transfer to.
