Gabriella “Honeybun” Montoya, 17, passed away on Friday March 28, 2014, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. Gaby was born on November 22, 1996 in Austin, TX and resided in Kyle, TX. She was a junior at Lehman High School and was loved by her peers and friends.
Gaby is survived by her parents, Carrie and Richard Montoya, sisters and brothers, Ashley Montoya, Olivia Montoya, Richard “Gordy” Montoya and Sergio Colombo, great-grandmothers Julia Montoya and Laverna Allen, grandmothers Lydia Romero and Connie Montoya; grandfather James T. Allen, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Martina and Geronimo Romero, and Julian Montoya.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. April 2. The celebration of her life service will take place at 10 a.m. April 3. Both take place at St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church, 801 N. Burleson Road, Kyle TX. A graveside service will follow at Kyle Cemetery, County Road 136 (Old Stagecoach Rd) in Kyle, TX.
Gaby was a vibrant young lady who danced to the beat of her own drum. She loved her family and friends. She was very involved in all types of sports, including volleyball, basketball and softball. Her aspirations were to play college volleyball and to pursue her modeling career.
Although her life ended too soon here on Earth, she will continue to live as an organ donor. She truly left an imprint on everyone she met. Gaby will live on in our hearts forever.
