Hays CISD board seeks applicants to fill vacancy
The Hays CISD Board of Trustees voted 5-1 at its last regular meeting to appoint the Single-Member-District 1 vacancy created by Shaun Bosar who resigned from the position. Bosar’s term would have expired in May.
To fill the slot, the board will accept applications and statements of interest, according to the process outlined below, from citizens who are qualified to fill this position.
Qualifications for Office
To be eligible to be appointed to the Board, a person must have the following qualifications set forth at Election Code 141.001(a) [see Board Policy BBA]: (1) Be a United States citizen, (2) Be 18 years of age or older on the date of appointment, (3) Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be incapacitated, (4) Have not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released, (5) Be a resident of Texas for 12 months and of Hays CISD Single-Member District 1 for six months.
Application Process
To be considered by the Board to fill the current vacancy, interested citizens must:
1. Be qualified to serve in the position
2. Complete the Hays CISD application to fill the vacancy
3. Submit a statement of interest in serving on the Board (approximately 500 words), and
4. File the notarized application, along with the statement of interest, in person at the Hays CISD Central Office (21003 IH 35, Kyle, Texas 78640) no later than 4 p.m., Jan. 14. Free notary services are available for applicants at Hays CISD Central Office.
