Budafest
Head to downtown Buda Dec. 6 and 7 for the anual Budafest. Parade with Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving takes place Saturday morning. Then enjoy two days of browsing the vendors for the perfect gift: crafts, jewelry, specialty foods, collectibles, antiques, clothes and more. There will also be live music and entertainment both days.
Friends of the Buda LIbrary Annual Book Sale
On Saturday Dec. 6 & Sunday Dec. 7, the Friends of the Buda Library will hold the annual book sale in the Buda Public Library’s activity room during Budafest. The sale returns in full strength this year, offering all of the books donated in the past 12 months. Come and search for treasures and buy a bag of books to support your local library. Sale hours are Sat. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. & Sun. 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Check the website at friendsofthebudalibrary.org for more details.
Rebel Christmas Fundraiser
The Rebel softball and baseball programs from Hays High School will be having its 3rd annual Christmas fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 3:30-7:00 p.m. in the Hays High School cafeteria. There will be vendors, a silent auction, a live auction, BBQ plates for sale and a visit from Santa Claus! There will also be featured performances by area school choirs such as Hays High, Dahlstrom and Barton choirs. They will also be accepting unwrapped gifts for Hays County Brown Santa.
Buda Trail of Lights
The city of Buda will host its annual trail of lights in Historic Stagecoach Park on Dec. 12-13 and Dec. 18-21 from 6-10 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment, toasty campfire, hot beverages and concessions for purchase. Free admission but non-perishable food donations will be accepted for the Hays County Food Bank. Free parking and shuttle from Cabela’s parking lot. For more information call 512-295-7170.
Luminations at Wildflower Center
On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 13 and 14 from 6-9 p.m. celebrate the holidays at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Thousands of luminaries and twinkling lights turn the center into a holiday wonderland during Luminations, an Austin holiday tradition. Admission is free (with two canned food items for the Capital Area Food Bank).
Santa’s Ranch Christmas Light Park
Celebrate the holidays with homemade hot cocoa, kettle corn, and a leisurely drive through Santa’s Ranch with more than one million dazzling lights, displays and holiday settings. Santa’s Ranch is located on IH-35, one mile south of San Marcos between Posey Rd. and York Creek Rd. Runs nightly through Jan. 3. Look for a $2 off coupon in the Hays Free Press.
