Sacred Springs PowWow
The Sacred Springs Powwow will be at the Meadows Center (formerly Aquarena Center) Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. for a celebration of Native American culture that has been part of the San Marcos area for thousands of years. The event is tsponsored by the Indigenous Cultures Institute — a nonprofit organization dedicated to the research and preservation of the culture, arts, traditions, ceremonies, and languages of the population collectively known as Coahuiltecans. The powwow features native dancers, drum groups, traditional singers, arts, crafts and indigenous food. Hootenanny on the Hill
Enjoy a 10K, 5K, 3K or 1K Fun Run at Fairway Fields in Plum Creek on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The start and finish will be at the dog park, near Fairway and Haupt streets and there will be different age brackets. There will also be a BBQ and chili cook-off, scarecrow contest, pumpkin carving contest, Pup Trot, Star Dogs Talent Show, petting zoo, vendors and much more. Buda Farmers Markets
The Buda Farmers Market meet on Main Street in Buda every Saturday from 9-noon from March to October. Gray Gardens also holds their weekly farmer’s market at Willie’s Joint, 824 Main St. in Buda from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Offerings include fresh produce in addition to fresh meat and seafood. They have now added a new market day to every Tuesday at Willie’s Joint from 4-7 p.m. This is a smaller market than the Saturday one, but still great!
