Staff report
Earlier today the Kyle Fire Department responded to a house fire on Strawn in Plum Creek. Crews were dispatched at 12:17 p.m. According to Fire Chief Kyle Taylor, upon arrival just after 12:20 p.m., smoke was seen coming out the front door and eaves. Fire crews entered the residence and found fire upstairs and in the attic. Taylor said the fire was under control by 1 p.m.
"The fire was extinguished and the smoke was ventilated from the building," he said in a written statement. "The house sustained water and smoke damage throughout and extensive damage to the attic and roof."
Taylor said Buda Fire Department assisted at the scene and San Marcos Fire Department helped cover emergency calls in town while the fire was in progress.
The fire is still under investigation but Taylor said it is not considered suspicious.
