For the second time in the city’s history Kyle has topped the half-million dollar mark in sales tax collections, but this month’s allocation is the largest ever, according to state comptroller data.
State Comptroller Susan Comb’s office will return $521,872 to Kyle in sales tax collections for November, according to sales tax reports.
May was the first and only previous month Kyle had received a sales tax allocation of more than half-a-million dollars. The city received just over $505,000 that month, according to state sales tax reports.
Last November, Kyle received $439,337 in sales tax collections, the data shows. Kyle marked gains of nearly 19 percent this month over the same month last year.
So far this calendar year, Kyle has received $4.4 million in sales tax collections.
Buda had the largest percentage growth in sales tax collections this month when compared to Hays County’s other corridor cities. The city collected $477,245 this month, a near-30 percent climb over its $368,000 allocation last November.
With only one month left in 2014, Buda has collected $4.5 million in sales tax receipts from January through November.
November sales tax collections represent monthly sales reported in September by monthly tax filers, as well as sales reported from July through September by quarterly filers.
San Marcos, the county’s biggest city, received $2.15 million in sales tax collections this month, a 13.6 percent increase over its allocation last November.
San Marcos has collected slightly more than $22.5 million so far this year.
In the eastern portions of the county, Niederwald and Uhland saw modest gains in sales tax collections this month of $113 and $739, respectively, when compared to the same month last year.
Niederwald received $2,038 in sales tax collections this month, marking a near-six percent increase over its allocation last November, comptroller data shows.
So far this year, Niederwald has received $21,254 in sales tax collections. At this point last year, Niederwald had collected $18,990.
Uhland collected $8,900 in sales tax receipts this month, a 9 percent climb over its $8,160 collection last November.
So far this year, Uhland has received close to $95,000 in sales tax collections, data shows. At this point last year, Uhland had taken in $74,300.
In the northwest corner of Hays County, Dripping Springs collected $24,600 more in sales tax receipts this month than it did in the same month last year.
Dripping Springs collected $153,300 this month, 19 percent more than its $128,700 collection last November, comptroller data shows.
So far this year, Dripping Springs has collected $1.4 million in sales tax receipts, marking a 12 percent climb over its $1.26 million collection during the same 11 months last year.
The comptroller’s office will return almost $81,000 in sales tax collections to Wimberley this month, a 9.4 percent increase over its allocation last November.
Wimberley has collected $654,000 in sales tax receipts so far this year. During the same 11 months last year, Wimberley had collected $596,900.
The county government received $1.3 million in sales tax collections countywide this month, according to comptroller data.
Hays County saw a 12.5 percent increase in this month’s allocation when compared to its $1.16 collection last November.
From January through November, Hays County has received $13.1 million in sales tax collections, climbing 7.8 percent over its $12.2 million collection during the same reporting period last year.
Comb’s office will distribute $723.1 million in monthly sales tax revenue to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts all across Texas this month.
“Strong growth in sales tax receipts was apparent across all major economic sectors,” Combs said in a statement. “Notable increases from retail trade and the oil and natural gas-related sectors led the growth, indicating increased spending by both consumers and businesses.”
This month’s statewide sales tax revenue allocation marks a 10.5 percent increase compared to last November.
