Representation for all residents

(Publisher’s Note: Final letters for candidates of the Nov. 4 election must be received by Oct. 17 and will be printed, if accepted, in the Oct. 22 edition of the Hays Free Press. Be sure to include your daytime phone number for verification.)

Representation for all residents

One of the first things I noticed after attending Buda City Council Meetings was the absence of representation by Buda’s younger demographic. By younger, I refer to residents under 40 who are single, and/or have young families.

In recent weeks, I had several opportunities to speak with Evan Ture, currently a candidate for Buda City Council. Evan supports preserving Buda’s history while enabling Buda’s growth. In a city equally divided demographically, offering more amenities for singles and young families is important to a sustainable and thriving economy for Buda. Evan openly supports arts and culture, realizing this sector is important to Buda’s economy, and brings additional visitors to the City of Buda.

Evan is an intelligent, educated businessperson who brings fresh ideas for growth. He listens and he weighs the impact on the city, and all its residents of all demographics. He asks questions to make sure he understands the other person’s point of view. Personally, I find it refreshing that Buda has a City Council candidate that possesses many of the traits it takes to lead and represent all residents of Buda.
