Jesse Edwin Abernathy, 70, of Port Lavaca, TX, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014. He was born Aug. 19, 1943 in Freer, TX to the late Andrew Preston and Ruby May Barrow Abernathy. Mr. Abernathy was a retired teacher and a coach having worked for Hays High School in Buda, Rockdale High School in Rockdale and Burnet High School in Burnet, TX.
He is survived by his wife Connie Abernathy; daughter, Trisha Gallagher; step-sons, Brannon Garza and David Esquivel; brother, Chuck Abernathy and three grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Abernathy; a son, Joseph Edwin Abernathy; and a brother, Donald Abernathy.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014 at his home at 1265 N. Ocean Dr.
