KYLE -- Appointments and reappointments were approved on Tuesday, but not without a long discussion by the Kyle City Council members.
The reappointments of Tim Samford, James Earp and Derrick Turley to the Alliance Regional Water Authority Board of Directors were approved unanimously.
With a 6-1 vote, Brian Ziegler, Tessa Schmidtzinky and Don Tracy were reappointed to the Economic Development and Tourism Board. Council member Yvonne Flores-Cale voted against as she wanted to at meet the board members before approving the reappointment.
"Me and Ashley [Bradshaw] are new to the dais," Flores-Cale said. "We have not had the opportunity to either talk or maybe see a resume or an application in order to make a vote on this."
Flores-Cale added that she would like to see more new faces on the board or at least have more information about the returning individuals.
With a 5-2 vote, Patricia Snidow and Matthew Chase were newly appointed to the Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission to fill vacancies. Council members Flores-Cale and Dex Ellison cast the dissenting votes.
Ellison requested that the council delay the vote to allow more time for discussing the board and commission policy. But, the motion to approve the appointments was already on the table and council moved forward with the vote.
The city is filling the unexpired terms of Rebecca Voss (Seat 7) and Priscilla Harrell (Seat 3) following their resignations from the Planning & Zoning Commission last week.
