Do you know the age of your hot water heater?
The Saturday morning of the holiday weekend, Ron checked the garage when he heard the collapsing of a water-soaked cardboard storage box on the floor. Not only did the hot water heater burst during the night, it kept running as the water heater refilled.
We use the garage for storage.
You know how things go. The valve would not shut, so we shut off the water to the house. The holiday weekend plumbing company no-showed for over 25 hours. Eventually, we headed overnight over to the La Quinta (where BoD and KissMe stayed with no surcharge, with a signed waiver.)
A broad black marker date is scrawled on the hot water heater. And, we will purchase a battery-operated device for the garage closet that beeps when water-touched.
RonTom replaces the battery in the “water alert” device in our hall closet once a year, when he replaces the smoke detector battery.

The calendar for the year from Loving Mountain City will not be mailed in 2013. The 2013 calendar went by email to those on the “LovingMountainCity” email distribution list. The 4x6 jpeg version can be printed as a color photo.
I love sending electronic photos to our new Walgreen’s through Walgreens.com and the Walgreens iPhone app. In minutes, they’re ready to pick up. Wow!
The 2013 LovingMountainCity calendar (which includes City of Mountain City events) is also available through the LovingMountainCity Facebook page. While you’re at facebook.com/Lovingmountaincity, look for the message posted on Monday, January 28:
“Woo Hoo We HIT 100 Friends... Like this post and you will be entered to win a Loving Mountain City Care Package Friday Feb1st! Make sure to share with your neighbors still!”
If you want to be added to the e-distribution list or if you want a printed calendar hand-delivered to your house, contact Amy Hilton at [email protected] or by phone. Ask me for her phone number, if you need it.
First up on the calendar is “Paws Shelter and Humane Society Food & Supplies Drive”, February 9-17.
