Super Bowl family fun party
Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas for the fourth annual Super Bowl Family Fun Party. The event will include plenty of activities and fun for the entire clan including an extreme talent show, a Scion car show, Madden 13 tournament ($10 entry fee), concessions and more. The Super Bowl party takes place from noon-4 p.m. Feb. 2 at 400 Uhland Rd. in San Marcos and is open to the public. Wear your favorite team jersey and get a commemorative hat.
Puppet Show
The San Marcos Public Library puppeteers will present Little Cloud and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, two fun Eric Carle stories that are just right for children ages 2 and up. There will be three shows at 10 a.m., 11a.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the San Marcos Public Library.
A Heart Warming Affair
The First United Methodist Church, located at 129 W Hutchison St. in San Marcos, will host “A Heart Warming Affair,” featuring a vendor fair, silent auction and Tea Room dining. Proceeds benefit the church’s outreach programs. The event will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 9 at the First United Methodist Church Activity Center.
Free tax filing help at San Marcos Library
AARP volunteers are offering free walk-in income tax help for handicapped, low-income and the elderly from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 2 and 9 at the San Marcos Public Library. Taxpayers should bring a copy of last year’s income tax return, a social security card for themselves and all dependents, a photo ID, and any other tax-related information. E-filing will be available; bring a check or letter from your bank for direct deposit. Service is guaranteed to the first 50 people who arrive and sign in by 12:30 p.m.
