Trailing 5-3 in the sixth inning, the Rebels used back to back to back singles from Justin Diaz, Adrian Acosta and Justin Montana to pull within one of the Schertz Clemens Buffs. With pinch runner Gibson Hatch barreling home on the pitch, Alex Robles pushed a perfect bunt to the right side of the infield to score the tying run. Montana moved from first to third on the play, which allowed him to score the winning run on a wild pitch a couple of pitches later. The 6-5 victory moves the Rebs to 10-3 on the year and 2-0 in district.

The Rebs scored first with two runs in the second and one in the third. Clemens answered both times with two in the third and moved ahead with three in the fourth. With Reb’s ace, Tyler Woodmansee in trouble, Hays head coach David Null went to reliever, Adrian Acosta, to shut down the Buffs for the last three innings, capitalizing on a game ending double play from Robles, to Montana to Diaz to end the game. The Rebs were paced at the plate by Granger Studdard’s and Acosta’s two hits apiece. The Rebels continue district play at 2 p.m. Thursday, in Seguin.
