Jewell Carola Hill McGee (1921-2013)

Jewell Carola Hill McGee, age 92, loved by so many went home to be with the lord on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Horizon Bay in San Marcos, where she had decided to make her home for the past two years. Kyle had been her home for most of her life, living 38 years at the house with the Statue of Liberty in the front yard.

Jewell was born February 9, 1921, in the Heidenreich home east of Kyle, the only child to be born in this house. Jewell is survived by her sons, Bill L. McGee and wife, Dianne of San Marcos and Rodney R. McGee and wife, Rosemary of Burnet, Texas. She was the fun grandmother of seven grandchildren: Heather Menn and husband, Bill, of Yorktown, Texas, Holly North and husband Mike, of Kyle, Hope Wilson and husband, Kevin, of McKinney, Texas, Jessica Poole of Round Rock, Courtney Kelly and husband, Matt, of Dallas, Laura McGee of Austin, and Stephen McGee and wife Brittany of College Station. Her great-grandchildren, who fondly called her “grandma booboo” are Presley Milson and Paige Milson of Yorktown, Texas, Caleb, Tanner and Annie North of Kyle, Luke and Phillip Wilson of McKinney, Texas, and Brock Kelly of Dallas. Jewell was also a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces.

Jewell was preceded in death by her husband, Billy H. McGee, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hill, her brother and sister-in-law, Julius and Barbara Hill, and great-grandson, Joshua David North.

After receiving her B.S. degree from San Marcos Teachers College, she taught homemaking and fourth grade in the Kyle ISD and the Schertz ISD for 34 years.

Some people are good at a few things but Jewell was excellent at many. She was a most wonderful mother and mother-in-law and the most fun and giving granny to her grandchildren.
