Hays Rebel Kevin Mendoza (below) and Georgetown East View Patriot Craig Sanchez tangle it up at Shelton Stadium in the first playoff game of the season (above). The Hays boys soccer team ended its post-season run with a 0-6 loss to East View Patriots Tuesday night. While the players tangled constantly on the field, the Patriots’ sure footed passing and dominance so frustrated the Hays players by the end of the second half that referees called numerous yellow cards, mainly for slide tackles. With less than five minutes left in the game, referees conferred on the sidelines after Georgetown fans continued to taunt Hays players, despite their lead in the game. Despite the reprimand from referees, the fans continued the name-calling until the end of the game, and Hays players stayed on the opposite side of the field until most of the fans left.
