Christine Edmonds Dye, 88, of Buda, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 22, 2013 in Austin. Funeral services were held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Manchaca on Monday, February 25, with Pastor Scott Sandahl officiating. Burial followed at Driftwood United Methodist Church.
Christine was born on June 5, 1924 in Hillsville, Virginia to William and Bessie Edmonds and raised on a farm with her six brothers and sisters. After graduating from high school at 16 she attended several years of business college. Christine’s love of life and adventure relocated her from her home in Virginia to California. While there she worked, and volunteered for the U.S.O.
She will be missed greatly on this earth, and is most at home with her Father. Those who have known her are enriched by her being a part of their lives. After Christine raised her own children she was blessed and delighted to play a powerful role in the loving and nurturing of her grandchildren. Mothering is something that she loved most and it continued up until the day her physical body would cooperate no more, but her mental ability never strayed beyond keeping them ever close to her heart.
Christine is survived by her five children; Lynda Wade and her husband Robert and Isabella of Driftwood, Carol Paulk of Pasadena, Jack Dye and his wife Cathy of Pasadena, Bill Dye and his wife Karen of Spicewood, and Sally Hughes and her husband John of Buda. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jeff Paulk, Matt Paulk, Nicole Ohlendorf and her husband Ryan, Amber McIntyre and her husband Josh, Courtney Bukowski and her husband Beau, Samantha Ireland and her husband Dan, and Danielle Dye. Nanny was blessed to have four great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly; Miller Ohlendorf, Bleu Bukowski, Cody McIntyre, and Lake Ohlendorf. Christine was everyone’s “Nanny.”
