Commissioners Court approves new deputy constable for Precinct 5

Ron Hall

STAFF REPORT

The Hays County Commissioners Court recently approved the appointment of Ron Hall as Deputy Constable for Precinct 5, which includes the Buda area.

Hall, who lives in Kyle and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, had previously served as a deputy constable in Precinct 4 and as police chief in Bertram.

Hall nearly thwarted Pct. 2 Hays County Constable James Kohler’s bid for reelection in November, though Kohler kept his seat, which covers Kyle and Buda, with 52.71 percent of the vote.

“We’re pleased to welcome a deputy constable with such extensive experience and training,” said Pct 2 Commissioner Mark Jones. “Such dedicated professionalism is a great asset to our whole county.”

Pct. 5 Constable Matt Mancillas III lauded Hall’s experience, which includes certification as a Master Peace Officer.

“Master Peace Officer is the highest level of training certificate offered by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education,” Mancillas said.

Constables have the same powers as other police officers, but with the added responsibility of civil law enforcement, such as serving warrants and acting as bailiffs for courts.
