A quick look at Lehman v Hays boys games

by Joshua Young

Lehman and Hays boys basketball teams played a close, physical contest on Friday with playoff implications on the line for the Rebels. As with the first match, the game went to overtime, but this time Hays prevailed with a 63-59 victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Lehman senior De’Andre Carson followed up a career game Tuesday night with a valiant 26 point effort in his last game in front of the home crowd. Hays spread the scoring around, hitting timely 3 pointers and hustling for loose balls and offensive rebounds.

Leading the Rebels on the night were Stephen Jass and Jacob Rodriguez with 15 and 13 points. The Lobos finish the regular season on Tuesday night at Boerne Champion, while the Rebels have a must win game with Kerrville Tivy.

The Lobos boys soccer team remained undefeated in district play as they defeated the Giddings Buffaloes Friday night, 4-1. Senior Eli Guajardo opened the scoring with 2 goals, followed by sophomore Rene Torres, and finished by freshmen Diego Garcia with a penalty kick. A showdown with the Lockhart Lions looms on Tuesday night as the Lehman looks to close out the first half of district play with a 6-0 record.
