Dorothy Mae Doherty (1934-2012)

Dorothy Mae Doherty, or Dot, as she was called by all who knew her was born October 6, 1934 in Houston and died Christmas Day, December 25, 2012 in Austin.


She and her family moved to central Texas when she was 13. She attended and graduated from Buda High School where she met the love of her life Jimmy Doherty. Dot and Jim were married 58 years. Dot was employed for many years at the Mc Marty-Caveness Insurance Agency. She had a variety of passions in her life. She loved to cook and work in her garden. Her love of animals was legendary and hers were often treated like royalty. Football, travel and country music were also beloved pastimes.


Though Dot never had children of her own, she treated everyone like family. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on. She was everyone’s Aunt Dot! She is preceded in death by her father, E.L; her mother, Hilda; and her brother, Jimmy Caruthers. Dot is survived by her husband, Jim; and many nieces, nephews and their families.


Funeral Service was held Saturday, December 29th at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel, Austin. Interment followed at Live Oak Cemetery, Manchaca. Memorials and guestbook are online at www.wcfish.com.
