Just four days after being released on parole, a Hays County woman is back in jail after allegedly contacting the victim of the crime she was sentenced to ten years in prison for.
Texas Attorney General Fugitive Unit officers arrested Lesley Pehrigo, 38, a registered sex offender in Hays County, on March 8 in Austin after allegedly violating the terms of her parole by having contact with the victim of her indecency with a child case, according to a Texas Attorney General news release.
Pehrigo was released from prison on March 4, according to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) official who said Pehrigo was to be on parole until July 23, 2017.
TDCJ issued a parole violation warrant on March 7 and Pehrigo was arrested and booked into the Travis County Jail the next day.
Travis County Jail records show Pehrigo is not in their facility, but Connie Durdin, an administrative assistant with the TDCJ public information office, said Pehrigo was in custody and not eligible for bond.
“(Pehrigo) is not eligible for bond,” Durdin said. “Anytime there is a technical violation of parole, bond is not going to be set.”
The Texas Board of Pardons and Parole will decide whether Pehrigo’s parole will be revoked, or whether she will be retried, resentenced or have additional charges added, Durdin said.
TDCJ officials are not releasing much information and said details behind the alleged contact are “confidential” and would not provide a probable cause affidavit.
Durdin said Pehrigo’s imposed conditions included, “sex offender registration, sex offender program, prohibition on internet access for certain sex offenders, reside in legal county of residence, alcohol and drug testing, child safety zone, no contact with victim (and) post secondary education reimbursement.”
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbot created the Cyber Crimes Unit in 2003, which is aimed at protecting children from online sexual exploitation, according to their release. The Cyber Crimes Unit and the Fugitive Unit, which locates sex offenders who have violated the terms of their parole, have combined to arrest more than 2,100 child sex predators, the release stated.
