The Hays High School Athletic Department confirmed Tuesday that Hays assistant football coach/offensive coordinator Bill Gambs will depart for Odessa Permian High School.
Gambs joins former Rebel head coach Blake Feldt at Permian High, where Feldt accepted the Permian head coaching position on Jan. 11. This news ends any speculation that Hays would promote Gambs to fill the Rebel head coaching vacancy.
Feldt, whose final day at Hays was Jan. 18, retains a coordinator that helped the Hays offense amass over 4,000 total yards over the past two seasons.
