Hays County food inspectors only made a few stops in Buda though several businesses were inspected in Kyle during December.
Buda had two spots inspected and both did well with exemplary scores. Chavelo’s Mexican Restaurant received 0 demerits, a vast improvement over its last visit in early December when it received 15 demerits, which is below average.
The Subway at Interstate-35 in Buda also received an exemplary rating with 0 demerits. That location also had 0 demerits during the previous inspection, which took place in January 2012.
Kyle saw four restaurants reach exemplary scores and several others were above average.
The Bread Basket on Goforth Road had an exemplary score and received 0 demerits. In June 2012, it received 21 demerits, which was far below average.
Camino Real Elementary School also received an exemplary score with 0 demerits, up from 3 demerits during an inspection in October.
Pho Thaison Vietnamese Cuisine on F.M. 1626 in the H-E-B shopping center had no demerits, maintaining its exemplary score from its inspection in May 2012.
Super Donuts on F.M. 150 rated exemplary with 0 demerits, up from 4 demerits last March, which is considered above average.
About the scores: Hays County tabulates scores based on the number of total demerits received. If no violations are found, a score of 0 demerits is achieved; the lower the score, the better the outcome of the inspection. If an establishment receives more than 30 demerits, a re-inspection is required and corrections must be made to bring the total score below 30 in accordance with the Texas Food Establishment Rules (Chapter 229 of the Texas Administrative Code/Health Services).
Look for more inspection scores in the coming year as the county continues its work in the Kyle and Buda area.
