The United Way of Hays County kicked-off of its 2013-2014 campaign season by installing traditional eight-foot campaign thermometers to catalogue fundraising progress. The thermometers, located in Buda, Kyle and San Marcos, will chronicle gains in fundraising by increasing the “mercury” in the thermometer. So far, campaign donations and pledges have totaled more than 60 percent of the $365,000 goal. In 2014, the United Way of Hays County will support 30 local programs, including five in-house programs. UWHC partners and programs provide services in education, income, health and prevention services, as well as basic and transitional needs for more than 50,000 Hays residents annually.
