River City Ballet’s Nutcracker
River City Ballet in San Marcos will perform the full-length version of the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, for the first time in its history. Also a first, parts of the performance will have live music provided by the SMART orchestra. The Nutcracker will run at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at San Marcos High School. Christmas concert at San Marcos Library
If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, check out the special concert this Thursday at the San Marcos Public Library. Local group Destination takes their Andrews Sisters Revue and presents it as an old time live radio show. As always the show will be bright with colorful costumes, filled with your favorite songs and fun. Linda Sriro, Michelle Sriro Cole and Juli Dearrington will bring the Christmas spirit to young and old alike. They will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at the library.
Wimberley’s Second Saturday Gallery Trail
In conjunction with Wimberley’s annual Winter’s Eve Festival, most of the galleries will be open late on Saturday featuring lots of art, libations, snacks and live entertainment. Christmas elves will be handing out bonus bucks to spend in area stores. Wimberley Fine Arts Center will be serving s’mores cooked over the fire pit. Other stops along the trail include Bent Tree Gallery, Rancho Deluxe, Santa Fe Connection, Pitzer’s Fine Arts, Gallery on the Square, Imagine and Under One Roof. Stop at any gallery and pick up a map. The gallery trail runs 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in downtown Wimberley.
Lone Star Vaulters open house
The Lone Star Vaulters (gymnastics done on horseback!) will be hosting an open house at their training facility in Manchaca. This family friendly event includes a visit from Santa, holiday snacks, pony rides and a vaulting demonstration by International Champion Vaulters from around the country.
