Close Assault 1944


Close Assault 1944 is scheduled Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 9 and 10 at Camp Mabry, to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans and focus on the history of the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas Army National Guard during World War II. Show times are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. both days.


Watch a recreation of an attack on a German strong-point, witness firing demonstrations of the most famous U.S. and German small arms and equipment of World War II, and get a sneak peek of the new exhibit at the Texas Military Forces Museum. The formal ceremony opening the exhibit is scheduled Monday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine and bleachers will be available for seating. Camp Mabry is open to the public and adults only need to show a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license or a military ID, to enter.


Buda United Methodist Women Christmas Bazaar


Buda United Methodist Women will be hosting an Arts and Crafts Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m at the Buda United Methodist Church fellowship hall, 302 Elm St., Buda Texas. There will be many handcrafted items for adult and children shoppers alike, along with a silent auction featuring several items including a doll house, jewelry and more.  Kairos Outside, a ministry supporting loved ones of incarcerated men, women, and youth will be selling tea, coffee and apple cider. Get started early on your Christmas shopping and support missions to families, women, children and youth.


Quilt Show and Christmas Bazaar


Members of Onion Creek Senior Citizens Center and the Buda Bees will host their first Quilt Show and Christmas Bazaar in their new activity center on Friday and Saturday, November 8 and 9 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. There will be many beautiful quilts on display, a demonstration of quilting, Christmas gifts and decorations, soup and sandwich lunch along with delicious desserts and drinks.  The senior center is located two blocks off Main Street and FM 2770 at 420 Barton’s Crossing. Admission is free for the two-day event.


10th Annual Akins FFA Alumni Dance and Auction


The 10th Annual Akins FFA Alumni Dance & Auction will be at the Painted Horse Pavilion in Buda, TX from 7 p.m.- 11p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. BBQ dinner will be served, with entertainment by The Sam Bentley Band.  All proceeds from the live & silent auction benefit the students that raise livestock projects and participate in the Travis County Youth Show in January.  If you have any questions, contact Belinda Olivas at [email protected].
