Common Experience – Philosophy Dialogues
Join Dr. Rebecca Raphael, associate professor of philosophy, for the next in a series of Philosophy Dialogues. The topic is “Bodies of Light: From Daniel to Dr. Who.” Raphael will focus on the motif of a body of light as it appears in ancient religious documents and contemporary science fiction. The discussion will explore the nature of this image, what sort of embodiment it articulates, and why it occurs with bodily transformations such as resurrection, regeneration, or evolution to a “higher” plane. Discussion takes place at 3:30 p.m. April 1 at the San Marcos Public Library. The series of lectures is free and open to the public.
