Hooked On Fishing Fall Fishing Tournament
This fishing tournament is open to all adults 18 and older with a valid Texas Freshwater Fishing License. Lake Kyle has a healthy population of largemouth bass, perch and catfish, and to protect that population we will catch and release alive and use artificial baits. Bank fishing will be allowed only with one pole at a time. Win prizes and spend the day at Lake Kyle. The tournament takes place from 7 a.m.-noon Nov. 2 at Lake Kyle. Dia de los Muertos Mariachi Extravanganza
The third annual Dia De Los Muertos Mariachi Extravaganza is coming up this weekend. Join the fun, which will include Mariachi music, dancing and more. Special guests include Texas State Salsa de Rio, Texas State University Mariachi, Ballet Folklorico by the Ruiz Dance Studio & Company. Mariachi students from Lehman High, Wallace, Simon and Chapa middle schools will also perform. Local schools and nonprofit vendors will also sell Dia De Los Muertos art as well as host crafts for kids and carnival games. The extravaganza takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 2 at Gregg Clarke Park on Center Street in Kyle. This fundraising event will also include a $6 BBQ Chicken Plate and Silent Auction.
First Baptist Church of Buda Fall Festival
More Halloween fun will be at the First Baptist Church of Buda on Halloween night from 6-7:30 p.m. All kids are invited to the Trunk-R-Treat and Fall Festival at the church located at 104 South San Marcos Street in Buda (two blocks behind Cleveland’s). There will be jumpy houses, free hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and fun carnival type games and decorated car trunks for giving out candy.
‘Echoes from our past: Early settlers of San Marcos’ Cemetery Walk
San Marcos High School drama students will share stories about the early history of the town during the second annual Cemetery Walk. The event, sponsored by the Heritage Association of San Marcos and the Friends of the San Marcos Cemetery, is open to the public. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students (children under 12 are free). Advance tickets are being sold daily at the First United Methodist Church office and on Nov. 1 at the Charles S. Cock House Museum during the Cottage Kitchen Luncheon from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. 3-5 p.m. The walk takes place Nov. 2 at the San Marcos Cemetery (1001 Old Ranch Road 12).
