Staff Report.
Hays CISD board member Shaun Bosar announced his resignation from the board at Monday’s workshop meeting. He and his family recently moved to the Houston area for new job opportunities.
Once a board member moves out of his/her single member district (or out of the overall district for at-large seats), he effectively resigns his/her position on the school board. However, under Texas law, a provision called “The Holdover Doctrine” does not release Bosar from his duties of office until his replacement is sworn in as a new member. Trustees will vote at next week’s meeting on whether to appoint an interim board member, hold a special election to replace Bosar, or wait until a new trustee is elected in the next regular election. Bosar’s term ends in May 2014.
