Clara Ann Shick, 70, of Manchaca, died Friday in her home following an extended illness. Born in Hudson, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Bistrick Benczkowski. She was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School. Following school she moved to Washington, DC and began working for the US Treasury Department. It was here that she met and fell in love with Kenneth Shick. They married in Woodbridge, VA on August 5, 1967. They subsequently had three daughters. In 1978 they moved to Manchaca.
Clara’s interests included reading, baking, taking cruises and spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lillian Benczkowski, and her brother Robert Benczkowski. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Kenneth Shick; daughters: Deborah Vert of Ft. Worth, Tracy Alver and her husband Brian of Dalhart, and Theresa Johnson and her husband Aldrian of Austin and her five grandchildren; sister Janice Traller and husband Ron of Memphis, TN.; sister-in-law Elaine Benczkowski of Trumball, CT.
