A year of improvement by the Lehman baseball and softball teams culminated in eleven players earning a place in the 27-4A All-District Awards.
Lobo baseball saw a stellar year of play under head coach Toby Robinson, with the team compiling a 14-15 overall record, 6-8 in 27-4A play. Five Lobos baseball players were selected as award recipients this season.
Guiding the Lobo baseball team was pitcher Hunter Leh-man, who earned the 27-4A 2013 Most Valuable Player of the Year award. Lehman, who signed to play with the Blinn College Buccaneers and was named to the Texas High School Coaches All-Star Team, held a 7-1 record, with 97 strikeouts and a 1.47 earned run average in 2013. In addition, Lehman broke the Lobo career strikeout record of 161 set by Jacob Urea, by recording 201 strikeouts on the season.
The Lobo softball team equally had an improved season under first year coach Bill Holmes. The Lady Lobos finished the year 13-20, 5-9 in 27-4A play; a far cry from the 4-15, 2-9 record in the 2012 season.
Highlighting the Lady Lobos’ season was a hard fought 3-2 road win over eventual second place Lockhart on March 19.
