Buda voters spoke loud and clear in the Buda City Council election Tuesday. The voters rejected Wayne and Amy Proctor’s ideas for slowing growth, taxes, not approving new developments until infrastructure was in place to support them. The voters overwhelming opted for continuing growth and development. We accept the voters choice, this is the American way and we would not have it any other way. The election results insures no turning back now . We have crossed the no-return line. By the next election Buda will have annexed all of the surrounding EJT. We will be welcoming new citizens at a rate that will TRIPLE our population in only ten years.
Election day is a long day (12 hours) and the candidates do spend a little time visiting with each other. During a short conversation on future water shortages to support this explosive growth I shuttered when I heard an explanation by one Council Elect member “WE MUST HAVE XERISCAPE LAWNS”. Translation - No more grass. Desert lawns? I am personally going to take pictures of my grass lawn now to pass on to our Grand-children so they will remember what grass used to look like.
