Letters to the editor

Thanks, Mr. Jack

As we approach the end of the school year, the inevitable change of personnel in the district will occur. Staff will change schools, seek other challenges, or choose a well-deserved retirement. This year, one of Hays CISD’s most valuable assets in the transportation department will be doing just that.

Jack “Mr. Jack” Niesner will be retiring at the end of this school year. Mr. Jack has been one of the most stable and positive influences for our children in HCISD. From letting preschoolers explore what the bus is like, to protecting the youngest students on and off of the bus, to waiting that extra couple of seconds to allow some families (ahem!) to get out the door, he has been there each day with a smile and a wave.

Mr. Jack has set high expectations for the kids who ride his bus, for the benefit of all. He has kept them organized and safe, at school and on field trips, and instilled a sense of order for his students. Just yesterday we noticed an older rider following the same routine she was probably taught in grade school – wait for the bus to stop, for Mr. Jack to give the signal, then cross and board the bus.  What a reassurance to parents that our children have been so well cared for at every juncture!

This particular letter comes from one family, however, we know that we speak for many in Elliott Ranch and the surrounding neighborhoods when we say “thank you.”  Thanks for every daily route and field trip when you have been there without fail, safe and familiar.  You will be one of the great memories of many kids’ school days, Mr. Jack, and we wish you a long and relaxing retirement!

Thanks to officials

The Kyle / Buda VFW Post 12058 held a Memorial Day Ceremony at the Post on Center Street in Kyle Monday morning. I am a Buda resident and would like to personally thank Mayor pro-tem Mr Bobby Lane and the other Buda City officials who attended.  I do not wish to single out the Buda officials over any of the many other city and county officials who honored us with their presence. However, as a Buda resident, a Viet Nam Veteran, and a member of Post 12058, I really appreciated my city officials presence to honor all the fallen veterans. Thank You.
