Schools tackle hunger, raise money for food bank

Hays County Food Bank’s Community Relations Coordinator Jane Moore (left) accepts a check for $2,584.76 from Kyle Elementary School teacher and Student Council sponsor Stacey Magnesio.

Kyle was one of several Hays CISD schools to raise money through the food bank’s Turkeys Tackling Hunger campaign. Buda Elementary raised $746.36 and Carpenter Hill brought in $1,114.25. Dahlstrom Middle School, along with Negley and Pfluger elementaries, each made contributions as well. The food bank recently distributed several hundred turkey boxes to Hays CISD families. Overall, more than  3,000 Hays County families will receive a Thanksgiving meal from the Hays County Food Bank. (Courtesy photo)
