LaVerne Meek, age 80, of Kyle, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. LaVerne was an active member of the South Austin Baptist Church for many years. She took care of the children at the Daycare in the Church and also ran her own Daycare business until 1988 when she unexpectedly fell ill due to an aneurism which left her paralyzed and unable to care for herself. Her loving daughter and son-in-law, Melody Meek and David Hart, selflessly stepped in to care for her in their home for many years.
Prior to her health failing, LaVerne lived life to the fullest, she loved to travel and explore the world. For the past 25 years, she was unable to do the things she loved so now that she has
joined the Lord, we delight in her ability to be whole again, to step out of that wheelchair that confined her for so many years and walk into the house of the Lord and rejoice with him.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Mason Meek and son-in-law David L. Hart. She is survived by her loving daughter Melody Meek, grandchildren, Tammy Torres and husband Paul, David Hart and Vanessa Reyes, Joshua Hart and wife Theresa, great-grandchildren, Paul Torres Jr. and Kayla Medellin, Cassidy Torres, Gabriel Torres, Aaron Torres, Joshua Hart Jr., Andrew Hart, Jakob Hart, Alexis Hart, Devin Hart, Brian Hart, David Hart III, and great-great-grandchildren Gabriella Marie Torres and Paul Anthony Torres III.
Graveside services were held Monday, October 7th, 2013 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
