Hays County area children ages 8-10 can participate in the 2013 Junior Deputy Academy Program. This three-day camp is from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. The West Side Academy is June 25-27 at the Wimberley Community Center. The East Side Academy is July 16-18 at Wallace Middle School in Kyle. On Wednesday of each camp, the children will tour the Sheriff’s Office, a local fire station, as well as the Smoke House, EMS and StarFlight. Junior deputies will also meet with Sheriff Gary Cutler. All children will receive a t-shirt and graduation certificate. Children must bring a sack lunch; water and snacks will be provided. The first 40 applications will be accepted to attend the Junior Deputy Academy. The application deadline is 4 p.m. June 3, 2013.
