San Marcos Library Summer Reading Program starts in June

The San Marcos Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Dig Into Reading, offers more than 80 free events for children and their families during June and July.  Pick up a reading log beginning June 10. Completed logs will earn readers a chance at a prize as well as coupons for local businesses. Winners will be announced August 2. Other summer activities include story time every Tuesday and Thursday, puppet shows, crafts, kids’ concerts and special guest performances. Tuesday is Family Night beginning at 7 p.m. Teens and Tweens will enjoy art, yoga, nature, dance, juggling, games and drama with local experts throughout June and July.  On June 21, Jungle Jim returns with his collection of bugs and creepy crawlies from around the world. Other special events include Science of Spin, a fascinating exhibition of skill with tops and yo-yos by Valerie Oliver on July 12 and Kent Cummins will perform his Madcap Magic Show on July 19. Geronimo VFW Sunday dance

The Glen Collins Band will be playing country dance music at the Geronimo VFW Post 8456, from 3-6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26. Doors and kitchen open at 2 p.m. Venue is open seating. Event organizers request a $7 donation. The VFW hall is smoke free and open to everyone. Register for the Kyle Library Summer Reading Program

Registration for the Kyle Library Summer Reading Program begins on June 3. Adults and children may register; all will be entered into a grand prize drawing. Everyone who signs up receives a reading log where they can keep track of the books read to earn prizes. Bring completed reading logs to the library to collect a final reward. All those who finish the log will earn a reading certificate and get a second entry for the grand prize drawing.
