Just like a proud mom, the ladies of the Buda Bees Quilting group are so excited to learn that their quilt made in 2008 has made it all the way to California! Their quilt was given away in a raffle drawing and the winner in turn sold the quilt to a collector who put it in his collection of New York Beauty Quilts that is now on exhibit through October 27 at the San Jose Quilt Museum, one of the oldest quilt museums.
In describing the quilt, collector Bill Volckening of Portland, Oregon, said it was “a contemporary rendition made in 2008 by the Buda Bee Quilters of Buda, Texas. The Cinco de Mayo pattern is one of the most complex varieties of New York beauties.”
The Buda Bees and members of the senior citizens center are busy working on their upcoming quilt show and Christmas bazaar. There will also be tickets for sale for a chance at another award-winning quilt to be given away in December. Save the dates, Nov. 8-9, for the first annual Quilt Show and Christmas Bazaar that will be held at 420 Bartons Crossing.
