I am writing to express my support for Joe Bacon for the District 3 City Council seat. Only Joe Bacon has the experience and the credentials to get this job done.
Joe Bacon is the only candidate in the run-off who actually stepped up to the plate and served the City on any type of committee. When the City re-established the Mobility Committee, Joe Bacon volunteered. I have attended most of those meetings, and Joe Bacon has been there. You can depend on Joe Bacon to show up..
Joe Bacon knows how to listen to his constituents. We might not always agree on every issue, but he listens patiently and considers what I say. That is respect. His opponent states that he “will always do what HE thinks is in the best interest of the citizens of Kyle.” I want our city councilmen to do what WE think is in the best interest of our city. Joe Bacon gets what democracy is about.
Joe Bacon has been attending City Council meetings for going on two years now. I respect that. I have even seen him sit through budget workshop meetings. And trust me, nothing is more grueling that the Council’s budget workshops! His opponent only started attending Council meetings after he announced he was running for city council. For me, that just doesn’t cut it.
I wish more citizens would be involved in our city government by participating in committees and attending city council meetings. And I’m excited that we had enough interest from 3 people to want to run for a council position. But when it comes to selecting who to vote for - I’m going to vote for the person who demonstrates a genuine interest in our city through their past participation.
