Kyle and Buda are seeing double-digit jumps in their sales tax allocations compared to the previous year, with Buda nearing a 30 percent increase and Kyle claiming a more than 20 percent increase in reported January sales.
Texas Comptroller reports show that Buda took in $299,538.53 in sales tax revenue for March, a 28.46 percent uptick from the same month last year. The same report shows that Kyle, too, saw an increase in sales tax collections for March, totaling $275,359.97, a 22.51 percent jump from March 2012.
The March sales tax figures represent sales reported in January, according to the Texas Comptroller’s website.
With March’s numbers included, Kyle has received $1,001,855.61 in sales tax collections for 2013, up 16 percent from the same reporting period – January, February and March – in 2012.
Buda also has seen a jump in revenue, totaling $1,065,920.95 for the first three months of 2013, a 14.13 percent jump from the same reporting period last year, according to the comptroller’s office.
As a whole, Texas saw a 12.2 percent jump in March sales tax allocations from the previous year, totaling $531.3 million, the comptroller’s office reported.
