KYLE — To continue helping seniors with their social health and general welfare needs, the Kyle Area Senior Zone (KASZ) is working to expand to a different location to better fit the older population.
KASZ sits at the Krug Activity Center downtown — but, they have outgrown the space. There is a standing offer from the city of Kyle to rent a 5-acre piece of land on the east side of FM 150 that could be the future site of a new facility.
“We saw the ducks landing on the pond and we heard the children from the nearby school in recess,” said Larry Simone, president of KASZ. “We said this is heaven on Earth. Property on a lake in Kyle? We just died and went to heaven.”
Simone added that they are trying to raise funds to help with the payment for the land. His dream is to end the 15th year at the Krug Activity Center, hoping to start the next chapter by the lake.
“We are necessary,” Simone said. “I can tell you stories about the seniors here that need our love and support. We will do that for them.”
While there is no official contract drawn right now for a new facility, KASZ presented their ideas to Kyle City Council on Tuesday, March 2, in hopes that the council would remember them for the upcoming visioning workshop in April. Council did not make a motion.
