Fully vaccinated people will start to feel a sense of normalcy again.
The Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) announced that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting. Exceptions include requirements by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws and regulations.
People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna) or two weeks after a single dose (Johnson & Johnson).
Below are recommendations and guidance from the CDC.
I'm fully vaccinated. What do I do now?
- You can participate in activities without wearing a mask or social distancing, unless required by regulations
- Domestic travelers do not need to get tested or self-quarantine before or after travel
- International travelers are still highly encouraged to research before traveling outside of the U.S.
- Travelers do not need to get tested before leaving the United States unless a destination requires it. Testing should still be done three to five days after international travel.
- A negative test result, or documentation of recovery, from COVID-19 is still required before boarding an international flight to the U.S.
- If you've been around someone who has COVID-19, you do not need to stay away or get tested unless systems arise.
What to keep in mind
- Workplace and local business guidelines still need to be followed
- Take steps to protect yourself and others if you travel. Masks are required on planes, buses, trains and other public transportation in or out of the U.S.
- Watch out for COVID-19 symptoms, especially when around someone who is sick. If symptoms occur, getting tested and staying home is best.
- Those who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken the immune system should talk to their healthcare provider.
The CDC will continue updating recommendations for both vaccinated and unvaccinated people.
